ØA brief history of the school
BT/ Vivekananda Hindu Ladies College has been one of the proud of the Batticaloa district in the history of Progressive Education in Sri Lanka. The school produced several notable leaders for the country over the years in Batticaloa district. BT/ Vivekananda Hindu Ladies College is established by MR. K. KATHIRKAMATHAMBI UDAIYAR , MR.T.K. SABAPATHIPILLAI UDAIYAR in 1909.
Ceremony of the laying the foundation stone for the School building was held in 1912-01-19 by Swami Vivekananda’s female disciple SWAMI AVABAMIYA. MR.K.O.VELUPILLAI has been the manager of the school after the MR K. KATHIRKAMATHAMBI UDAIYAR.
The school was initially named as “TAMIL KALAVAN PADASALAI”. This school is affiliated to SRI RAMAKRISHNA MISSION in 1926-02.15. This school is again termed as BT/ VIVEKANANDA UYARTHARA PADASALAI in 1948-01.01.
The Sri Lankan Government taken over the school formally in 1960-01-01 and again morphed as “BT/VIVEKANANDA LADIES MAHA VIDYALAYAM” in 1960. This school was gradually changed and enriched in physical resources in 1996. This school progressed gradually and was upgraded to the position of the prestigious 1AB school in 1998 and become girl’s only school in 2000. This school proudly celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2011. This school is termed as “BT/ VIVEKANANDA LADIES’ COLLEGE” in 2017-01-19.
ØSchool culture
The school which contains the students society of maintaining the Ramakrishna Mission Culture. The College has also been the citadel of Tamil and Hindu Culture. The school’s main mission is to ensure that all learners can benefit from quality education and reach their full potential for growth irrespective of socio-economic status or individual or family-related circumstances.
